Abnormal Uterine Bleeding (AUB)
- AUB is a common clinical problem, especially in women over 35.
- It is characterized by unusually heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB).
- Acute AUB: Bleeding requiring immediate intervention to stop potential blood loss in a non-pregnant woman of reproductive age.
- Chronic AUB: Bleeding from the uterus that is abnormal in duration, frequency, or volume for at least six months.
New FIGO AUB classification for women with regular cycles:
- PALM-COEIN: New classification system for AUB.
- Polyps
- Adenomyosis
- Leiomyomas (fibroids)
- Malignancy & hyperplasia
- Coagulopathy
- Ovarian dysfunction
- Endometrial
- Iatrogenic
- Not yet classified
FIGO Subclassification for Fibroids:
- Type 0: No fibroids.
