    Study Notes

    A320 Limitations

    • Cabin Pressure: Maximum positive differential pressure is 9.0 PSI, while maximum negative is -1.0 PSI. Single and dual pack systems have different altitude limits.
    • Operational Parameters:
      • Runway slope: +2%.
      • Runway altitude: 9200 ft.
      • Minimum AGL for autopilot use: 100 ft and 5 seconds after lift off.
    • Thrust Setting/EGT Limits: Limits defined for take-off, go-around, and other phases.
      • Maximum continuous temperature and transient temperatures are specified.
      • Minimum starting temperatures and pre-take-off minimum temperature.
    • Runway Widths: Runway width should be at least 30 meters and 45 meters minimal width.
    • Wind Limits: Maximum crosswind limits at different landing stages (ILS CAT I, CAT II, CAT III). Tailwind and headwind limits also defined.
    • Maximum speeds: For passenger doors, cargo doors, and during landing/take-off. Includes maximum speed with landing gear extended / retracted
    • Aircraft configuration: Various configurations have different wind speeds and altitude limits.
    • Automatic Landing: Glide slope angle range and auto-land limits specified, for CAT I, CAT II and CAT III.
    • Oil: Minimum oil quantity and pressure, minimum starting temperature, maximum temperature, oil limits.
    • Starter: Maximum EGT for startup (below/above 35000 ft), start attempt limits.
    • Fuel: Minimum fuel quantity is 1500 kg for take-off. Includes jet fuel minimum temperature and maximum.
    • Landing Gear: Maximum brake temperature for takeoff and landing procedures.
    • APU: Maximum EGT, altitude permitted, and refueling/defueling limits during operation.
    • Additional data: Included data like maximum continuous / transient temperatures, oil quantities, minimum fuel limits, and other general performance limits.
