Red means revolution Some Facts about China The official name is : The People’s Republic of China Population is: 1,416,043270 billion Mandarin is the official language It was an empire that transformed into a Republic in 1949 The Capital city is Beijing China’s Economy One of the world’s top two economies Its economy is the result of a high sustained export relations High manufacturing industry with low wage labour. There is a lot of economic imbalance leading to high poverty rates. They have 4.67% unemployment rate; the youth make 15.7% (age 18-24). China’s Political system It is a Communist party leading the state The president & vice-president are elected by the National People’s congress which is dominated by the Communist Party These elections are every five years The Parliament is also known as the National Congress National Congress has 3000 seats Although China says it has eight other political parties yet only the Communist Party wins and is in control of the National Congress and all of the state. China’s Political System The Chinese Communist party (CCP) founded in 1921 The CCP was inspired by the Russian Bolshevik revolution and by the ideas of Karl Marx and Lenin Tensions happened internally inside the party resulting in a civil war and this ended in 1949 Modern China is based on Lenin’s ideas and system Countries who follow Chinese model are Cuba, North Korea and Laos. Due to 1989 Tiananmen Square protests and the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1990s China reconsidered its policies. China’s Political System The Communist party suffers from lack of transparency The Communist party is in control of almost everything even though there is separation of power in the constitution “Run the party and you run China” President Xi Jinping is in power since 2012 Because of the great attention China gives to its foreign policy, this caused tensions with the USA which views China as challenging it President Xi Jinping has a lot of efforts to eliminate poverty and fight corruption, and this makes him a popular leader in China He succeeded in bringing China to the world stage China’s activity abroad China’s political system President Xi Jinping marks the strongest president in recent Chinese history. Due to the efforts of President Xi Jinping, China now is more visible on world stage in influential organizations as the BRICS. China is very active in its diplomacy in Africa, and the Middle East. China was able to reconcile between Saudi Arabia and Iran. China has many investments in Egypt very clear in the New Administrative Capital The CCP has reimagined itself as a driver of change, guiding the country’s path to wealth and fueling a sentiment of national pride.
