The teaching methodology emphasizes a student-centric approach over a traditional teacher-centric model. In this approach, the classroom environment is structured to be more interactive and cooperative, providing students with opportunities to engage in meaningful expression and conversation with their peers. At this stage of the program, the primary pedagogical aim is to enhance students' fluency in English, with a gradual shift towards achieving grammatical accuracy as they advance. The syllabus reflects this aim by prioritizing communication skills over the mere instruction of language structures. This is achieved through a range of small-scale exercises and projects that promote self-directed learning and regular practice. Weekly feedback from faculty supports this process, helping students refine their skills and apply them in real-world contexts. ## Overall, the objectives of the program are centered on building fundamental communication abilities, developing a basic understanding of grammar, and expanding vocabulary for everyday use. The methodology supports these objectives by encouraging active participation, collaborative learning, and continuous improvement through practical, engaging activities. ## Required Textbooks * Excerpts from The Gift of Magi by O' Henry, The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, Julius Ceasar by William Shakespeare, Dune by Frank Herbert, The Hare and the Tortoise from Aesop's Fables * The Gift of Magi by O' Henry. https://americanenglish.state.gov/files/ae/resource_files/1-the_gift_of_the_magi_0.pdf ## Recommended Readings: * Mohan, Krishna, and Meera Banerji.
