They can be used in both the singular and the plural form. The articles “a”, “an”, or a number can be used with countable nouns in the singular form. For example, a book. Five chairs. A table. Seven forks. An umbrella. The article, ‘a’ is used before words with the beginning letter as a consonant or consonant sound. For example, A bat. A ball. A robot. A spoon. The article, ‘an’ is used before words with the beginning words as vowels or vowel sounds which also signifies one object. For example, an apple. An orange. An audition. An oven. An eye. Uncountable nouns can be qualified by words such as some, much, a little, or less. For example, He has some courage. Can I have a little milk? She had less strength by the end of the day. Abstract Noun Abstract nouns are the name of a quality, action or state, or feelings considered apart from the object to which it belongs. An abstract noun is the name of those things that are not seen or touched but could only be thought or felt. For example, Poverty. Beauty. Death. Hatred. Happiness. Love. Poverty is a main concern in the country. Beauty is in a person’s character. The child was filled with hatred since his parents didn’t get any gifts. She was filled with happiness after the trip. The parents had a lot of love for their kids. Material Noun The material noun is the name of a thing out of which things are made. The ankle bracelet is made of silver. The bottle is made up of copper. The cupboard is made up of teak wood. The dress is made of silk. The house is made up of bricks. Randy danced all night. Common Noun These are nouns that describe a type of person, place or concept. For example, India has a lot of monuments.
