CHOREOGRAPHY **DANCER** - Dancers are not just performing artist; their bodies are also the instruments through which the art are created. - The quality of art is directly dependent on the physical qualities and skills of the dancers. **BASIC STEPS AND FORMATION** - The basic steps and formation of the dance depends on the kind of whom the dancers present. - Is the dance move that defines the character of a particular dance. **CHOREOGRAPHY** - The art of making dance. - The gathering and organization of the movements into order or pattern. **TYPES OF DANCE** 1. Ballet 2. Jazz 3. Tap 4. Hip-hop 5. Modern 6. Swing 7. Belly dance 8. Latin dance 9. Folk dance **BALLET** - An artistic dance form performed to music using precise and highly formalized set steps and gestures. - Ballet uses music and dance to tell a story **JAZZ** - A fun dance style that relies heavily on originality and improvisation. - Jazz uses dramatic body movements, including body isolation and contraction. **TAP** - Tap dancing is an exciting form of dance in which dancers wear special shoes equipped with metal taps. - Tap dancers uses their feet like drums to create rhythmic patterns and timely beat. **HIP-HOP** - Hip-hop is a dance style, usually danced to hip-hop music, that involved from the hip-hop culture. - Hip-hop includes moves such as breaking, popping, locking and krumping. **MODERN** - Is a dance style that rejects many of the strict rules of classical ballet, focusing instead on the expression of inner feelings. **SWING** - Swing dance is a lively dance styles in which couples swing, spin and jump together. - Swing dancing is a general term that means dancing to swing music, or music that "swings". **BELLY DANCE** - A unique form of dance characterized by sharp, rolling, movements of the hips and abdomen. **LATIN DANCE** - A fast-paced often sensual, partner dance characterized by sexy hip movements. **FOLK DANCE** - Refers to a variety of dances developed by group of people or communities that reflects about their way of living, **FOLK DANCE IN THE PHILIPPINES** 1. Pantomina **BINASUAN** - Originated in Pangasinan Province Means "with the use of glasses - Shows the balancing skills of the performers **RIGODON** - Originated from Spain - This dance is commonly performed at formal affairs like inaugural balls where prominent members of the government participate and enjoy **PANDANGO SA ILAW** - Comes from the Spanish dance "fandango" - Excellent balancing skill of tinggoy or oil lamps. - Originated from Lubang Island, Mindoro **SUBLIAN** - The term "subli" is from two tagalog word "subsub" meaning falling on head and "bali" which means brocken - Originated from Bauan, Batangas **KURATSA** - This dance portrays a young playful couple's attempt to get each other's attention - From Bohol and other Visayan towns. **ITIK-ITIK** - A dance imitating the movements of an "itik" - From Province of Sorigao Del Norte. **TINIKLING** - Originated from Leyte Province - Mimic the movements of "tikling bird" hoping over tress, grass stems or over a bamboo traps set by farmers. **MAGLALATIK** - Originally performed in Binan, Laguna - A mock-war dance that demonstrates a fight between the Moros and the Christians over the priced latic or coconut meat during the Spanish rule **CARIÑOSA** - Word that describes an affectionate, friendly and lovable woman. - The dance is performed in flirtatious manner with fans and handkerchiefs to assist the dancers' hide and seek movements **SAKUTING** - Originated in Abra - This dance interprets a mock fight between Ilokano Christians and NonChristians with training sticks as props. **PANTOMINA** - Meaning "Dance of the Dove" - This dance is the highlight of Sorsogon's Kansanggayan Festival - It is a courtship dance originated from imitating the courtship and love making of doves. **PHILIPPINE ETHNIC DANCES** 1. Pangalay **LESSON 5** **PHOTOGRAPHY** - The Art of capturing light with a camera, usually via digital sensor of film, to create an image. - Comes from the Greek word "nhotos" which means light and \"graphe \"which means drawing. - Together they mean drawing with light **PHOTOGRAPH** - An image created by the exposure of light on a light-sensitive material at some Stage during its making. - A picture made using a camera. **CAMERA** - The term camera comes from the Latin Word \"camera obscura \"means dark chamber - A device that records images, either as still photograph or as moving image. - A device for taking photographs by letting light from an image fall briefly onto sensitized film, usually by means of lens-and-shutter mechanism. **TYPES OF PHOTOGRAPHY** **ARCHITECTURE PHOTOGRAPHY -** Architecture Photography is the photographing of buildings and structures. **FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY** - A genre of photography devoted to displaying clothing and other fashion items. **FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY -** Photography that is created to express the artist\'s imagination and emotions. It serves as artistic purpose. **LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY** - Photography that shows spaces within the world. Typically captures vast spaces of nature but can also on man-made features such as e **LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHY** - Attempt to capture the beauty of everyday occurrences; real-life events, typical situations in an artistic manner. **MACRO PHOTOGRAPHY** - The Art of photographing very small and/or close-up objects. **NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY** - The Art of photographing nature such as, plants, wildlife, seas, oceans and etc.. **PHOTOJOURNALISM PHOTOGRAPHY** - The collection, editing and presenting of news material for publication or broadcast; images in order to tell a news story. **PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY** - A caption or photograph of expression, personality and mood of a person or group of people. **TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY** - Photography to showcase locations, destinations and to help illustrate travel literature. (article. brochures, etc.) **VERNACULAR PHOTOGRAPHY -** The Art of photographing ordinary, everyday life, amateur and unintentional. **CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD PHOTOGRAPER** 1. **TECHNICAL VALUE**-a picture has technical value when it is clear, free from smudges, clear, and not blurred. 2. **EDITORIAL VALUE**-It has editorial value il it tells a story at a glance, when it shows lile happening moment of truth, and significance. **5 FUNCTIONS OF PHOTOS** A. To give visual relief **LESSON 6** **CRAFTS** - Is any variety of works where useful and decorative objects are made completely by hand or by using tools only - An occupation or trade which involves manual dexterity and skilled artistry  TYPES OF CRAFTS  **TEXTILE CRAFTS ** - The word textile is from the Latin word texere which means \"to wave\", \"to braid\" or \"to construct\". - Arts and Crafts that use plant, animal, or synthetic fibers to construct practical or decorative objects. - Most textile arts begin twisting or spinning and plying fibers to make yarn called **thread.** - The yarn is then knotted, braided, or woven to make clothing and soft furnishings. **WEAVING ** - Weaving is the making of fabric by interlacing threads. - The machine used for weaving is called a **loom**. - Tribal communities in the Philippines known for their woven textiles. **IFUGAO** Known for their **binulan** and **wanno** which are used as shawls to keep their body warm. **T'BOLI** They used birds, frogs and man as their design for their woven clothes. **MAGUINDANAON** - The **malong** is a famous male underpants. - It is a piece of cloth that\'s tied at the waist and looks like a skirt. TAUSUG - The **kandit** is the official costume of the tausug tribe **WOVEN PRODUCTS** Aside from cloth, there are other objects that are woven in the Philippines, such as; - Baskets - Fans - Mats - Bilao - Fisherman\'s net - Furnitures - Farmers hat (Salakot) **MATERIALS IN WEAVING** - BAMBOO - ABACA  - RATTAN **PAPER CRAFTS** - Paper crafts have to do with paper. - Any form of Art that is using paper. **ORIGAMI** - The art of paper folding - From a japanese word "oru" (folding) and kami (paper) **MAGIC OF ORIGAMI** AKIRA YOSHIZAWA - The Grand Master of Modern Origami. - Created over 50,000 different Origami Models - Sadako Sasaki and the 1000 origami paper crane. **CALLIGRAPHY** - Relates to writing. - It is the design and execution for lettering. - The Art of giving forms to signs in an expressive, harmonious and skilful manner **SCRAPBOOKING** - A method of preserving, presenting and arranging personal and family history in the form of a book, box or card. - Typical **memorabilia** includes photographs, printed media and artwork. **DECORATIVE CRAFTS** - Arts that are concerned with the design and decoration of objects. **WOOD CARVING** - The Art of putting design on a piece of wood. - the **North, Cordillera** carves the bulol, a pagan statue of their godIn s or anitos. - They also carve bowls and utensils. - Figures of man and animals are also carved. In the **South**, the Maranaos and Tausug are known for their okir- a-datu designs. - The Sarimanok is a colorful bird with a fish on its beak. - Those are decorative elements of the Torogan or datu\'s house. **MOSAIC** - The Art of creating images with an assemblage of small pieces of colored glass, stones and others. **SCULPTURE** - Comes from the Latin word Sculpere means \"to carve\", \"to cut\", \"to remove\" pieces of stone. - A three-dimensional form constructed to represent a natural or imaginary shape. **FASHION CRAFTS** This craft encompasses all the elements of dressing the human body: jewelry, hats, leatherwork (shoes, belts and handbags) and garments.  **JEWELRY** - Favorite accessory of ancient people. It consists usually of amulets that are used to keep evil spirits away. - T\'bolis uses brass for chains and bells. - They also use beads and strings to make necklaces etc. - Tattoos are also used to decorate one\'s body. - They also show one\'s place in society.  **LEATHERWORKS** -  Leather craft is the practice of making leather into craft objects or works of art, using shaping techniques, coloring techniques or both. **FUNCTIONAL CRAFTS** - Functional crafts represents fine art which serves utilitarian purposes- - Functional crafts have regards more to usefulness rather than beauty or ornamentation. **METALCRAFT** - Brass, bronze, gold and silver are heated and poured into molds to make objects from jewelry to other decorative objects. Maranaos are famous for their metal craft. In Batangas, a famous metal product is the balisong, a local knife. **POTTERY** - The Arts and craft of potter.  - Is a functional object made from clay and fired at high temperature. Manunggul Jar- A secondary burial jar  **WOODWORKING** - The art of cutting, framing, and joining woods.  **IMPORTANCE OF CRAFTS** - It promotes our cultural heritage through the use of indigenous materials. - To show an individual\'s creativity and lofty imagination. - Producers of raw materials will be encouraged to produce more. - Employment is generated especially for the undergraduates.
