The right side of the heart pumps deoxygenated blood to the lungs while the left side pump oxygenated blood to the rest of the body. Located in the thoracic cavity. blood vessels: tubes which transport blood Arteries: carry oxygenated blood away from the heart to the body tissues Veins: return deoxygenated blood to the heart from the body Capillaries: tiny vessels that exchange oxygen, carbon dioxide,nutrients & waste between blood & tissues blood: the uid that plans through this system, carrying oxygen, nutrients& waste Overall function of the cardiovascular system The cardiovascular systems overall function is to deliver oxygen & nutrients to cells & tissues while removing carbon dioxide and waste products. it also helps regulate body tempter & maintain uid balance 2.
