# Diamond & Diaper Weaves - Both diamond and diaper weaves are constructed as a further development of twill weaves. - These weaves are constructed by combining the right and left hand twills in specific order. - Diamond weaves are constructed by combining right and left hand twills in pointed twill order. - Whereas the diaper weaves are formed by combining right and left hand twills using herringbone conjunction. ## Construction of Diamond Weaves - Diamond weaves are constructed based on a specific twill factor. - The diamond weave is a square type of weave design which is completed on twice the number of ends and picks as that of the basic twill factor. - The number of ends and picks of the design is divided into four portions. - Diamond weaves are constructed by combining right and left hand twills in the four divided portions in the following manner: | Right hand | Left hand | |---|---| | | | | | | | Left hand | Right hand | ### Example 1 Construct a diamond weave based on `4/4` twill - Construct `4/4` left hand twill in bottom left hand portion. - Construct `4/4` right hand twill in top left hand portion. - Copy last end into top right hand portion - Continue `4/4` left hand twill in top right hand portion - Copy last end into bottom right hand portion - Continue right hand twill in bottom right hand portion ### Example 2 Construct a diamond weave based on 3.1/1.3 twill - This example shows a diagram of the resulting weave ### Example 3 Construct a diamond weave based on `4/6` twill - This example shows a diagram of the resulting weave ### Example 4 Construct a diamond weave based on `1/5` twill - This example shows a diagram of the resulting weave ### Example 5 Construct a diamond weave based on 1.1.3./3.1.1 twill - This example shows a diagram of the resulting weave ### Example 6 Construct a diamond weave based on 4.2/3.1 twill - This example shows a diagram of the resulting weave ## Construction of Diaper Weaves - Diaper weaves are constructed in the same way as that of diamond weaves: | Right hand | Left hand | |---|---| | | | | | | | Left hand | Right hand | - However the left and right hand weaves are combined using herringbone method of conjunction ### Example 1 Construct a diaper weave based on `4/4` twill - In the left hand bottom portion `4/4` left hand twill is formed. - Reverse filling of the last pick is filled in upper left hand portion. - The right hand twill is continued on top left hand portion. - Reverse filling of the last end is carried out in top right hand portion. - The left hand twill is continued in the top right hand portion. - The reverse filling of last end is carried out the bottom right hand portion. - The right hand twill is continued in the bottom right hand portion. ### Example 2 Construct a diaper weave based on 4.1/1.4 twill - This example shows a diagram of the resulting weave ### Example 3 Construct a diaper weave based on 1.1/5.1 twill - This example shows a diagram of the resulting weave ### Example 4 Construct a diaper weave based on `2/4` twill - This example shows a diagram of the resulting weave ### Example 5 Construct a diaper weave based on 4.3/1.1 twill - This example shows a diagram of the resulting weave ### Example 6 Construct a diaper weave based on 1.1.4./4.1.1 twill - This example shows a diagram of the resulting weave
