Summary
This document outlines topics for a final quiz on lower extremity (LE) kinesiology, posture, balance, and gait. It covers anatomical, arthrokinematic, and kinesiological aspects of LE function, postural control assessment, gait initiation, and termination. It also defines the linked motions of LE and pelvis during gait and muscle contributions.

**Topics for Final Quiz 3: LE kinesiology, posture, balance, and gait** 1. Describe the key anatomical, arthrokinematics, and kinesiological of the LE joints and contributions to LE function 2. Systems integration for postural control -- including APAs and postural control strategies, assessment of balance control (Romberg and Sharpened Romberg test), and gait initiation and termination 3. Relationship between location and direction of GRFV and internal moments and forces required to maintain the target posture 4. Phases (subphases) of gait, spatiotemporal variables, associated kinematics and kinetic profiles, and understanding of restriction in joint function and LE alignment on gait 5. Describe the linked motions of the LE and pelvis during gait and the muscle contribution to the total support moment 6. Define power generation and absorption and apply to describe for common functional tasks 7. Basic understanding of the balancing of forces on a joint (JRFs and muscle forces (statics) and moments (dynamics)) and to apply this information to explain effects of specific conditions (e.g., decreased hip abductor muscle strength; use of a cane; diabetic foot) Practice questions were provided at the end of lecture and applications in the labs. These will form the basis for the final quiz.
