# V-shaped and A-frame collapses - V-shaped collapses throw loose objects toward the center. Survivors are most often located near the outer edges. - A-frame collapses are almost the opposite of V-shaped collapses. They result when a strong center object holds up the center portion of the structure, while the outer ends of floors or roof fall resulting in a tent-like structure in the center of the debris pile. - This is fairly common in explosions, since the pressure rise tends to push out exterior walls while it is nearly equalized within the structure. The void areas in this case are close to the remaining center obstruction, usually a bearing wall or column line. - In this case, those along the outer edges will have a lower chance of survival than those near the center supporting structures.
