# Chapter 09, Electricity ## 3. Type of wire ### Conductors Some metals are good conductors of electricity which allows the bulb to glow brighter. Silver, copper and aluminum are good conductors of electricity and will allow the bulb to glow brighter as compared to brass, iron, and tin. ## 4. Length of wire The length of wire also affects the brightness of bulb. The longer the wire, the smaller the flow of electricity and the dimmer the bulb glows. - Longer the wire, slower the flow of current As the length of wire increases, the bulb gets dimmer while the decrease in the length of wire will allow the bulb to glow brighter. ## 5. Thickness of wire The thickness of the wire also affects the brightness of the bulb. A thick wire is like a four way highway. The bulb glows brighter because more electricity can reach it. In thin wire the flow of current will be less. The bulb glows less bright because less electricity can reach it. - The thinner wire allows less current to flow through it - The thicker the wire, the more easily the current flows through it
