What is Quizgecko?

Quizgecko is a powerful quiz generator that uses AI to create questions based on the latest learning science.

It allows you to generate multiple choice, true/false, short answer and fill in the blank style questions. Our focus to date has been on generating effective multiple choice questions. Much research has shown that multiple choice questions are an effective way to reinforce and evaluate teaching.

They are also a popular choice for assessment, as they can successfully differentiate among students based on how well they know the material being tested.

Writing multiple choice questions can be time-consuming for learning professionals, though. That's where we believe AI can help. Through a combined "human in the loop" process, AI can help reduce the time and cost of writing effective questions.

Current state-of-the-art AI models are incredibly powerful. However, it is still difficult to guarantee their outputs are always correct. Therefore, we take several steps to try and automate effective question generation based on learning science, including:

• Encouraging the AI to generate plausible distractors
• Steering the AI away from “none-of-the-above” and “all-of-the-above” answer choices
• Keeping tests challenging, but not overly difficult
• Using simple language and vocabulary, without grammatical errors
• Keeping answer choices a similar length

Of course, the science of both learning and AI is continually evolving. Neither AI nor humans are perfect 100% of the time. We'll continually improve Quizgecko to leverage the latest research and make it easier for professionals to create high-quality learning content.
