Key Components of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI)

Farmer Digital Identity
- Introduction of a digital identity termed ‘Farmer ID,’ similar to Aadhaar.
- Links essential records, including land, livestock ownership, crop details, and demographics.
- State and UT governments will maintain registries such as Farmer Registry, Geo-referenced Village Maps, and Crop Sown Registry.
Pilot Projects and Implementation
- Pilot projects for Farmer ID creation conducted in six districts:
- Farrukhabad (Uttar Pradesh),
- Gandhinagar (Gujarat),
- Beed (Maharashtra),
- Yamuna Nagar (Haryana),
- Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab),
- Virudhunagar (Tamil Nadu).
- Digital Crop Surveys will facilitate the recording of crops planted each season using mobile-based surveys.
Geospatial and Agricultural Information
- Aims to link geographic information with land records at physical locations.
- Development of a comprehensive geospatial system covering crops, soil, weather, and water resources.
- This system supports generating crop maps for monitoring patterns, droughts/floods, and crop insurance claims.
Soil Mapping Initiatives
- Production of detailed Soil Profile Maps at a 1:10,000 scale for roughly 142 million hectares of agricultural land.
- Completion of soil profile inventory for about 29 million hectares already achieved.
